Book Review: I had a black dog, by Matthew Johnstone

So because it’s Mental Health Awareness Month I thought I would recommend a book I read recently while visiting my awesome psychiatrist Dr. Dee. He was on the phone (again) and after I had rifled through the filing cabinet (I’m kidding!) I found this great little book lying around in his office. They’ll be a post about Dr. Dee later this month.

I had a Black Dog by Matthew Johnstone is a great little read about what it’s like to feel depressed and the many ways that people try to hide it, disguise it and not deal with it. It’s a simple cartoon based book with thoughtful explanations on each page.
